Yvonne Ortiz-Prince is the Dean, Student Affairs division, which is comprised of Athletics, Campus Life/FYE, Religious Life, Health Services, Residence Life, and Campus Support Programs. She has been a practitioner of student affairs for over a decade. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Metropolitan Studies from New York University, and earned a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Ms. Ortiz-Prince is a doctoral candidate in Educational Policy Studies/Higher Education at Georgia State University.
Ronnette P. Ballard serves in the dual roles of Director of Campus Support Programs and Campus Counselor. She holds a Doctorate and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication, with a minor in Health Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Dr. Ballard possesses a wide range of experience in the mental health field. Her comprehensive background includes psychotherapeutic and mental health administrative experience in multi-modal mental health settings. She has provided counseling and psychotherapeutic services to a broad range of clients including college students, children and adults in all life stages. As Director of Campus Support Programs, her primary goal is to ensure the recognition of Campus Support Programs as a resource for student success. As the Campus Counselor, her focus is to provide comprehensive and supportive counseling services to students as they face the academic, emotional, and psycho-social challenges of college life.
Reverend Donald E. Brewington has served as University Chaplain at Huston-Tillotson University for fourteen years; he is a native of San Antonio, Texas. Rev. Brewington received a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and a Masters of Divinity from The Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, GA. Rev. Brewington also serves as the Church Relations Officer for Huston-Tillotson. He is a member of several organizations related to Campus Ministry as well as serving on a number of boards related to HT’s church-related affiliations -- the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ.
Dianna Dean is a resident of Austin, Texas, graduated from Austin Community College Vocational Nursing Program in 1980. After graduation, she was employed by Travis State School’s infirmary with MHMR patients for four years. After that position, Nurse Dean went to Seton Hospital, and then the East Side Family Practice where she developed her career in the care and treatment of patients living with HIV/AIDS. Her professional interest is Public Health education, and brings that interest to her position as Campus Nurse at Huston-Tillotson, planning and promoting health education programs for the campus and community.
Rebecca Anderson Fly is the Coordinator of Disability Services. She is a native Minnesotan, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Afro-American Studies and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. She is a licensed social worker in Minnesota and Texas. After 14 years with Minneapolis Public Schools overseeing Special Education services, she moved to Austin and has begun the next phase of her career with college students at Huston-Tillotson.
Paul Leverington is Director of the Career and Graduate Development Center.
He has a Master of Science in Applied Economics with an emphasis in Personnel, Labor and Industrial Relations, and Training and Development and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, both from the University of North Texas. Mr. Leverington has a background that includes over a decade in business (retail, wholesale and sales), a decade in secondary education, and over nine years in career service administration, where he served as a Transition Career Center Training Coordinator for the federally funded Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) program and as Director of Student Employment & Career Services for the University of North Texas.
Tenea Lowery is Coordinator of F.Y.E (First Year Experience) and is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. She holds a Master's of Art in Sociology from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor's in Art in Sociology with a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of North Texas. While at U.N.T., she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Tenea, truly believes that there are 3 Essential E’s for a successful college experience: Educate, Expose, and Explore.
Eric Simeon is Director of Campus Life & First Year Experience. He has a BA in Broadcasting & Mass Communication (1999), an M.A. in Human Resource Management (2002), and an M.S.W. with a Specialization in Student Community Development (2004), from The State University of New York at Stony Brook. During his time at SUNY Stony Brook, Mr. Simeon was very active in several student organizations that included Black Caucus, Caribbean Students Organization, Latin American Students Organization, and has remained an active member of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc., a historically Latino-based fraternity (the largest in the country) that boasts a highly diverse membership. Mr. Simeon has also worked at the University of Tampa (2004-2005) as an Area Coordinator in the office of Residence Life; and at Juniata College (2005-2007) where he held a dual role as a Resident Director and Program Coordinator in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Mr. Simeon comes to HT from St. Edward’s University in Austin, where he served as Apartment Director from 2007-2008.
Lamont A. Slater is Residence Hall Director of Beard-Burrows. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morris Brown College, Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Slater is a broadly experienced professional with an extensive background in higher education administration, public relations and educational marketing. He is also a free-lance writer specializing in politics, religion, social commentary and civil rights issues.
Theresa Taylor Simmons is Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Student Affairs. She earned a Bachelor of Arts, College of Fine Arts, at Howard University in Washington, DC. Before coming to Huston-Tillotson, Mrs. Simmons served 25 years as administrative assistant and program coordinator in the African and Middle East Studies, International Relations and Conflict Management programs at the School of Advanced International Studies, a graduate school of The Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC.
